Windows note: RStudio should be able to detect your latest installed R version if RStudio does not recognize R, or if you want to use a different R version from the one that RStudio detected, you can go to RStudio -> Tools -> Global Options, then click the first “Change” button to select a specific R version.

Select the default settings when installing RStudio unless you have other instructions from your instructor or colleague.

Click the RStudio file in your downloads folder (or wherever your downloads normally appear).

Note for Mac users: The RStudio version on the page above currently works with macOS 11+ if you are running an older version of macOS (e.g., High Sierra, 10.13), download an older version of RStudio from this page (e.g., RStudio 2021.09.4).

Scroll down and select the version of RStudio appropriate for your operating system.

You must first have a working installation of R to use RStudio. Double-click the file when it finishes downloading to begin the installation. Double-click the executable file when it finishes downloading to begin the installation.

Go to the Comprehensive R Archive Network (CRAN), which is mirrored on dozens of servers around the world, and choose the location closest to you.
